Mountain bike competition in the discipline XCM (cross-country marathon) organized by STENATA shops and Sports club Veloraptor

Rules and Regulations for conducting the competition

This year, thanks to the support of the cycling club Veloraprtor, the bike race in the event Bike for Chepan is again part of the BCF (Bulgarian Cycling Federation) calendar with the discipline XCM 66 km. The start of the competition is on 27.04.2024 from the center of the town of Dragoman

Track

66 km track with denivelation D+1900 includes double climbing of the highest peak of Chepan mountain as well as the area around Dragoman Marsh and the foot of Chepan mountain. The route has varied terrain, stony and rocky in places, and runs along forest roads and paths. It consists of the traditional 44-km track in the shape of an eight, with a crossing point in the village of Golemo Malovo where there is a support point, plus going along the short course of 23 km one more time. The start and finish are in the center of Dragoman, in front of the Town Hall. When still on the 44-km route, one kilometer before the finish line, at the bridge of the highway, the competitors will be redirected to the right to come out on the 23-km short course where they will again pass through Petrovsky Cross, through the village of Golemo Malovo, and then they will finish. Right to participate and requirements

In the Bike for Chepan XCM 66 km, only licensed riders who want to participate in the annual ranking are allowed to take part. Everyone who finishes the race will earn points valid for the BCF ranking. The XCM competition is held in accordance with the rules of the BCF for holding MTB competitions.

Every participant between 15 and 18 years of age is obliged to print out and fill in a Declaration signed and certified by at least one parent, which Declaration they shall submit when receiving race numbers.

IMPORTANT! The declaration shall be notarized OR presented in the presence of at least one of the parents. In the event that neither of the two requirements is met, the participant will NOT be admitted to the competition!

REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS:

The Participants shall:

– be physically fit;

– have the necessary skills to participate in the competition, and the participation itself is not contrary to a doctor's prescription;

– be aware of the risks that may be caused by the terrain, equipment, their personal physical condition, weather conditions, forest animals, trees, car traffic, as well as by the actions of third parties who may cause them injuries, non-property and property damages;

– wear their race numbers in a prominent place;

– be equipped with helmets.

The participants are obliged to:

- unconditionally comply with all decisions and orders of the organizing team, authorized volunteers and persons in charge at any moment of the event/competition, regardless of whether these decisions or orders concern the organization of the event or their personal participation in it; constantly take care of and protect their own safety and health as well as the safety and health of all people around them, regardless of whether these people participate in the event or in other activities, or are just spectators or something else;

- strictly to follow safety and security rules and measures.

For the above described in paragraph REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPANTS of the General Terms and Conditions, the Participant signs, by marking with a mandatory tick, a special Declaration, which is an integral part of the General Terms and Conditions. The marking is made during the registration, and without marking the registration and participation in the Bike and Run for Chepan 2024 will NOT be possible. For participants over 18 years of age, it is NOT necessary to additionally print out the Declaration on paper.

It is important to know:

• Participation in a certain category is determined according to the years of age of the participants completed in the current calendar year;

• Competitors are not allowed to change their competition category during the concrete calendar year.

• Minimum number of competitors for a given category is 5 people. In case there are less than 5 competitors in an age group, this age group is combined with the upper one or with the closest to it group with a decision of the chief judge and/or the organizer.

Age categories and rankings:

1.1 XCM Men

• Junior 44 km – the category includes competitors between 15 and 18 years of age (born in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) who compete on the traditional 44-km course with denivelation +/- 1200 m; they cover the entire 8-shaped course, with start and finish - the town of Dragoman;

• Men’s ELITE 66 km – the category includes competitors the age of over 18 (born 2005 and before) and with a relevant racing license; they compete on the extended course with length of 66 km and denivelation +/- 1900 m with double passing through Peter's Cross, and beginning and end of race - the town of Dragoman;

• Men's Masters 66 km – the category includes competitors the age of over 40 and with a relevant racing license. They cover the extended route with length of 66 km and denivelation +/- 1900 m with double passing through Petrovsky Cross, and with the beginning and end of race - the town of Dragoman;

• Men's Masters 66 km – the category includes competitors the age of over 50 and with a relevant racing license. They cover the extended route with length of 66 km and denivelation +/- 1900 m with double passing through Petrovsky Cross, and with the beginning and end of race - the town of Dragoman;

1.2 XCM Women

• Girls 44 km – the category includes competitors between 15 and 18 years of age (born 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) who compete on the traditional 44 km course with denivelation +/- 1200 m; they cover the entire 8-shaped course, with start and finish of race - the town of Dragoman;

• Women’s ELITE 66 km – the category covers female competitors over 18 years old (born 2005 and before), with a relevant racing license; they compete on the extended course with a length of 66 km and denivelation +/- 1900 m passing through Petrovsky Cross twice; the beginning and end of race is in the town of Dragoman;

• Women's Masters 66 km - the category includes competitors the age of over 40 and with a relevant racing license; they compete on the extended course with a length of 66 km and denivelation +/- 1900 m with double passing through Petrovsky Cross; the start and finish of race is in the town of Dragoman;

There are awards for the prize places, provided by the sponsors and organizers of the competition.

Insurance

All competitors will be provided with insurance for the day of the competition, covering first aid and transport from the PSS (Mountain Rescue Service in Bulgaria).

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT

– Own water container. There will be no cups at the support points.

– A bike in good working order and cycling helmet

SAFETY AND SECURITY RULES AND MEASURES:

- Assess your own abilities carefully and objectively. Line up at the starting line taking them into account, and without creating unnecessary crowding in the front groups.

– Move carefully when in a group, taking into account the movements of the competitors around you. Take care of yourself and others. Do not push or show aggression.

- Comply with the Road Traffic Act when crossing roads from the republican or municipal road network. Be careful.

– Follow the recommendations and guidelines of the law enforcement authorities.

– Take into account and comply with the peculiarities of the terrain and atmospheric conditions.

– Move along and follow the marked route. If you lose a mark, go back to the last one and look around.

– In case of urgent need, call one of the telephone numbers indicated on the racing numbers.

– Protect nature. Be responsible. Do not litter the environment.
